ABSTRACT:
The corrosion resistant chromium steel which includes 3 to 45% chromium, 0.2 to 5% nitrogen and other elements. Its structure contains at least 50% ferromagnetic structure components. It is directly magnetizable and, at 400.degree. C., has a yield strength of R.sub.p0.2 >400 N/mm.sup.2 and, at 600.degree. C., a yield strength of R.sub.p0.2 >250 N/mm.sup.2. To produce this chromium steel, a prealloy containing at least 50% ferromagnetic structure components is nitrogen enriched under pressure, is then hot worked, then annealed at 800.degree. to 1250.degree. C. and finally cooled to room temperature. A tempering treatment at 450.degree. to 750.degree. C. may follow.
