A process for making sticks of small diameter being highly stiff, difficult to break or crack and usable as a cotton swab, straw, "sunokos", etc. is provided, which includes extruding a polypropylene resin having a crystallinity of 0.945 or more and a melt flow rate of 0.2 to 20 g/10 minutes and satisfying a relation between melt flow rate and Q value of y.gtoreq.2x+8 wherein y represents Q value and x represents melt flow rate and stretching this stick to 5 times or more the original length thereof.
