ABSTRACT:
An oleic acid containing adduct is produced by reacting tall oil fatty acid (which contains pre-conjugated linoleic acid) with a dienophile at a temperature between 180.degree. C. and 300.degree. C. No catalyst or solvent is necessary for the reaction to occur. The adduct is subsequently distilled to yield a high-purity, light color oleic acid.
