ABSTRACT:
A method is provided for making ammelide ethers, such as a 2-amino-4,6-dialkoxy-1,3,5-triazine. A 2-amino-4,6-dihalo-1,3,5-triazine (ADXT) is synthesized in the presence of an aromatic organic solvent, and reaction is effected directly between the (ADXT) synthesis mixture and an alkali metal C.sub.(1-4) alkoxide and C.sub.(1-4) alkanol, including contact through a static mixer. These ammelide ethers are useful as intermediates for making N-phenylsulfonyl-N-triazinylureas, which have herbicidal and growth regulating properties.
