ABSTRACT:
A process for inhibiting corrosion in oil production fluids resides in adding to the oil production fluids an effective amount of betaine or ampholyte of the formulas 1 or 2 ##STR1## wherein R.sup.1 is C.sub.10 -C.sub.20 -alkyl or C.sub.10 -C.sub.20 -alkenyl, preferably C.sub.14 -C.sub.18 -aklyl or C.sub.14 -C.sub.18 -alkenyl and R.sup.2 and R.sup.3 are C.sub.1 -C.sub.4 -alkyl, preferably methyl.
