ABSTRACT:
A process for improving corrosion resistance of a metal article plated with zinc or cadmium includes coating the plated article with a chromium solution to provide the article with a chromate coating having a yellow to olive-drab color, and immersing the chromated article in a silicate solution for a sufficient time to cause the article to assume an acceptable white or grey color and also increase its corrosion resistance.
