ABSTRACT:
There is provided a process for imparting hydrophobicity to an inorganic porous mineral substrate which comprises mixing of a composition of at least one silane or condensation or hydrolysis product thereof and at least one deactivatable surfactant and optionally an organic alcohol with water or a water/organic alcohol mixture to form a dispersion of emulsion and applying the resulting dispersion or emulsion to the substrate.
