ABSTRACT:
In a process for extracting embryonic calf skin which includes initially grinding the calf skin, extracting the same, separating the resulting extract and lyophilizing the separated extract, the extraction stage is carried out in an extraction medium comprising an aqueous solution having an acid pH, at a temperature between 60.degree.-75.degree. C., for a period of at least 3 hours. The resulting extract which exhibits cicatrisive activity is employed in cosmetic and pharmaceutical compositions.
