ABSTRACT:
A process of using a catalyst composition having enhanced effectiveness in coupling an alkene with an aromatic hydrocarbon having an active hydrogen on a saturated .alpha.-carbon is accomplished with a catalyst obtained by treating an alkali metal with an alkali metal carbonate.
