ABSTRACT:
A process for forming a color photographic image comprising processing a silver halide color photographic light-sensitive material in the presence of a magenta coupler represented by the formula (I) ##STR1## wherein R represents an acylamino group, an anilino group or a ureido group; Ar represents a substituted or unsubstituted aryl group; X represents a non-metallic divalent group forming a saturated or unsaturated 5-membered or 6-membered heterocyclic ring together with the nitrogen atom; and Y represents an acyl group or a sulfonyl group.
The 2-equivalent magenta coupler represented by the formula (I) is stable to chemicals and has a good solubility to an organic solvent which is employed to incorporate couplers into a photographic light-sensitive material. A photographic light-sensitive material comprising a support having thereon at least one silver halide emulsion layer containing the 2-equivalent magenta coupler represented by the formula (I) is also disclosed.
