ABSTRACT:
The stopping or starting of the respirator (1) is controlled by a module (11) receiving, from a capnograph (8), an electric signal representing the CO.sub.2 content of the gas passing through a CO.sub.2 analysis cell (6) fixed to the exit of the intubation tube, inserted after tracheotomy, of a patient under assisted respiration. It is the CO.sub.2 content which determines the starting or stopping of the assistance by the respirator.
