ABSTRACT:
The present invention relates to a process for protecting keratinous material by treating it with an ester of the formula ##STR1## wherein R is the radical of an acid of the formula ##STR2## in which X is a C.sub.1 -C.sub.4 alkyl group or halogen or one of the two substituents X is a phenyl group, or R is the radical of 4-chlorophenylisopropylacetic acid, to compositions containing one or more of these esters, and to novel esters of the formula ##STR3## wherein R is the radical of an acid of the formula ##STR4## or of 4-chlorophenylisopropylacetic acid.
