ABSTRACT:
Method and apparatus are provided for preparing polypeptides by conjugating arginine as an end group to a polyethyleneimine water soluble polymer, stepwise addition of amino acids as their N-carboxyanhydrides to prepare the desired polypeptide, enzymatic cleavage of the polypeptide with the arginine group from the polyethyleneimine and enzymatic cleavage of the arginine to provide the desired polypeptide. An automated apparatus is provided for performing the above process.
