ABSTRACT:
The apparatus comprises a plurality of modular containers (2) each receiving a charge of products. Liquid CO.sub.2 is injected into each container under the control of a thermostat (28). The excess gases are collected in a single manifold (5), heated in a vessel (3) and then discharged through calibrated discharging means (7). The invention is particularly suitable for the cooling of food products.
