ABSTRACT:
A transfer switch, for use in connecting a series of electrical loads to an auxiliary power source, e.g. an electrical generator, includes a series of switches that are interconnected with the electrical loads, and a controller interconnected with certain of the switches. The controller actuates the switches in a predetermined order of priority, to supply power to selected electrical loads. In the event actuation of one of the switches results in an overload condition, the controller deactuates the switch and subsequently reactuates the switch after a predetermined delay. When all of the switches are actuated, the controller monitors the level of electrical load on the auxiliary power source, and de-actuates all of the switches in the event of an overload condition. The switches are then reactuated in the order of priority to restore power to the loads. Additional switches may be manually operated to supply auxiliary power to other loads.
