ABSTRACT:
A screen for printing curved surfaces comprises a frame having a substantially rigid end segments, and resilient, semi-rigid side segments, which are flexed traversed to the plane of the frame into an arcuate configuration for printing. During assembly of the printing screen, the frame side segments are deflected laterally inwardly a predetermined distance, and temporarily retained in the deflected condition by an assembly jig. A panel of screen fabric is mounted taut in a tensing frame, and positioned overlying the screen frame in the assembly jig. The screen fabric is attached to the perimeter of the screen frame, and the assembled printing screen is cut from the remainder of the screen fabric. The printing screen is then removed from the assembly jig, thereby releasing the frame side segments, and applying additional lateral stress to the screen panel. When the assembled printing screen is flexed into the desired arcuate configuration, the lateral stress in the screen help to retain the pattern in its true, undistorted shape.
