ABSTRACT:
Printing doctor having a doctor body and a coating of hard material which covers at least that end face of the doctor body which is intended to bear against a rotating cylinder. In order to provide the coating of hard material with a greater stability, before the coating of hard material is applied, the surface of the doctor body is provided, at least within the end face, with a multiplicity of recesses, the maximum diameters of which are in each case considerably smaller than the width of the end face. These maximum diameters expediently lie below 1/50 of the width of the end face, or between 0.1 and 10 .mu.m. The recesses are expediently produced by an ECM process.
