ABSTRACT:
Data in the host device that was processed before a data interrupt process could run, and data that was already being sent to the printer, can be reliably deleted when an error occurs. A printing apparatus20having a normal processing mode for storing data sent from a host device10to a receive buffer242and running a printing process based on the data in the receive buffer242, and a deletion processing mode for clearing data in the receive buffer242, has: a processing mode selection means43for selecting one of a first processing mode for saving data in the receive buffer242and print buffer245, and not changing to the deletion processing mode, when a printing apparatus20error is detected in the normal processing mode; a second processing mode for clearing all data in the receive buffer242and print buffer245, and changing to the deletion processing mode, when a printing apparatus20error is detected in the normal processing mode; and a third processing mode for clearing data in the print buffer245and saving data in the receive buffer242, and changing to the deletion processing mode, when a printing apparatus20error is detected in the normal processing mode.
