A printer with an image scanning sensor for reading image data in confined spaces comprising a case unit11with a roll paper compartment30for holding roll paper P, a front cover unit12for forming a slip transportation path21for conveying slips S between the front cover unit12and case unit11and a top cover unit13rendered to open and close to the case unit11so that it closes the roll paper compartment30when closed and simultaneously forms a roll paper transportation path35for conveying roll paper P between the case unit11and the top cover unit13.The printer includes; slip printing units23, 25disposed to the slip transportation path21for printing to slips S; a thermal print head33disposed to the roll paper transportation path35for printing to roll paper P; and an image scanning sensor44disposed to the top cover unit13for reading image data recorded to a card C.
