ABSTRACT:
A primer activator composition useful in cleaning and activating metallic surfaces in preparation for use with an anaerobic adhesive. The composition contains a non-combustible, non-ozone depleting, liquid polyfluoroalkane having at least one carbon-hydrogen bond, preferably a C.sub.4-10 dihydro- or trihydro-polyfluoroalkane; an alkanol which is capable of forming an azeotropic mixture with the polyfluoroalkane, preferably a C.sub.1-6 alkanol, such as n-butanol; a transition metal compound, preferably a copper compound; and optionally, an amine co-activator.
