ABSTRACT:
Apparatus10for modular eyeglasses having a plurality of lens members14that can be selectively mounted to a frame member12. The frame member12has the typical temples16and a crossbar18with an interdisposed bridge20. The bridge20is formed of pad arms and nose pads36depending from a mounting having a magnetic element22fixed within the top mounting surface with a pair of apertures28spaced away from each side of the magnet. The frame12provides means whereby a number of lens members14, such as reading lenses, distance lenses and sunblock lenses can be easily mounted to a single frame. A lens member14is comprised of a pair of lenses34with holes drilled in them for attachment at32to a flanged lens platform30. The platform30has a mating magnetic element24with posts26located on each side of the magnet linearly conforming to the distance between the frame housing apertures28. Once the magnets22, 24are aligned the posts28and apertures28prevent torsional forces from displacing the lens member10, while maintaining the correct spacing between the user's eyes and lenses34.
