ABSTRACT:
In a housing which is transparent to light of selected wavelength, a hypemispherical window of selected dimensions is formed of material which is transparent to light of the selected wavelength, the window having a seating surface. The window is supported by a mounting means, which has a bearing surface in abutting relationship with the seating surface of the window, and a compressible retaining means adjacent to the window and to the mounting means retains the window in immovable relationship with the mounting means, while sealing the window against external and internal pressures thereupon.
