ABSTRACT:
In a pressure compensated flow control system a flow control valve has a valve element which is subjected to pulsating fluid pressure by which it is maintained in a state of dither about a mean position corresponding to the selected flow rate through the valve. The valve element is spring-biased towards a closed position and is displaced against the spring bias by an amount which is a function of the rate at which fluid is applied on one side of the valve element and the rate at which the fluid is bled away via an orifice.
