ABSTRACT:
The present invention provides methods and compositions for the safe, effective, and efficient storage and transport of microbial cultures and comprises a vial and cap combination wherein the cap comprises an immobilized desiccant and the vial comprises viable microorganisms lyophilized in a lyophlization medium. In particular, the present invention provides compositions and methods for the storage and transport of bacterial cultures. The present invention is suitable for use in circumstances where long-term storage of microbial cultures is desired.
