ABSTRACT:
A process for preparing titanium disulfide for use as electrode material in batteries. The starting material to be purified has an approximate composition corresponding to TiS.sub.2, a content of free sulfur greater than 0.1 weight % and/or a particle diameter d.sub.90% greater than 10 .mu.m and is dispersed in an organic liquid that dissolves sulfur but not TiS.sub.2 in a shearing device, is then separated from the liquid phase, washed, and dried with exclusion of air.
