ABSTRACT:
Sheet-like PET materials having slight surface roughness consisting of fine dot patterns in the submicron range are produced by double successive exposure of the surfaces to polarized UV light produced by a pulsed excimer laser and having planes of polarization arranged at an angle of from 20.degree. to 90.degree. relative to one another, and the PET films treated in this manner are used as a substrate for thin ferromagnetic metal layers.
