ABSTRACT:
A process for the preparation of olefins by the elimination of hydrogen halide from tertiary alkyl halides, the reaction being carried out by heating the alkyl halide in water to from 40.degree. to 130.degree. C. and simultaneously distilling off from the reaction mixture the olefins formed.
