ABSTRACT:
Hydrogen cyanide is produced by reacting a hydrocarbon having at least 3 carbons with ammonia at temperatures of 650.degree.-950.degree. C. in the presence of selected catalysts. Exemplary is the reaction of toluene with ammonia at 700.degree. C. using a hydrogen exchanged faujasite catalyst.
