ABSTRACT:
A process for the preparation of .epsilon.-(.gamma.-glutamyl)-lysine which comprises heating lysine glutamate for at least 5 hours at a temperature of at least 120.degree. C by means of an inert heat-carrier fluid, and isolating .epsilon.-(.gamma.-glutamyl)-lysine from the conversion product thus obtained.
The inert heat-carrier fluid can be either a gas such as air or nitrogen, or a liquid such as n-amylalcohol, kerosene, nonane, 1,1,2,2-tetrachloroethane, 1-octanol or 2-ethyl-1-butanol.
