ABSTRACT:
A process for the manufacture of benzodiazepine derivatives which comprises reacting 2-amino-5-chloro-benzophenone with a primary amine H.sub.2 N--R.sub.1 to give an imine which is reacted with an amino-ester ##STR1## to give a ketimine said ketimine being then converted to a benzodiazepine derivative.
