ABSTRACT:
A method for preparing polyamide comprising reacting carbon monoxide and the reactant pair ##STR1## wherein --Ar.sup.1 -- and --Ar.sup.2 -- are each independently selected from the group consisting of aromatic and heteroaromatic moieties having a total of ring carbons and heteroatoms of from 6 to about 30, in the presence of solvent and a catalyst. The catalyst is a compound of a metal selected from the group consisting of platinum, palladium and nickel.
