ABSTRACT:
This invention relates to a process of preparing activated carbonaceous material from sewage sludge by treating the sludge with sulfuric acid and then subjecting the mixture to elevated temperatures of about 150.degree. to about 350.degree. C. The activated material can be used as an adsorbent in any of the conventional processes employing powdered activated carbon, for example, waste water treatment.
