ABSTRACT:
Substituted pyridines of the formula ##STR1## where R.sup.1 is alkyl of 1 to 20 carbon atoms, cycloalkyl, aryl or aralkyl, are prepared by reacting a mixture of acrolein and alkanals of the formula ##STR2## with ammonia in the presence of zeolites as catalysts.
