ABSTRACT:
N-acetyl-DL-penicillamine is prepared from DL-valine by converting the DL-valine into 2-methyl-4-isopropylidene-2-oxazolin-5-one using chloroacetyl chloride at 50.degree. to 150.degree.C. and then converting the 2-methyl-4-isopropylidene-2-oxazolin-5-one into the N-acetyl-DL-penicillamine.
