ABSTRACT:
2-Chloropyrimidines are prepared by treating 2-mercaptopyrimidines with chlorine or sulfuryl chloride in the presence of one or more C.sub.2 -C.sub.4 carboxylic acids and in the absence of significant amounts of water.
