ABSTRACT:
A computer-implemented performance modeling system incorporating data structures and algorithms representing a complex of ordered double buffering systems and buffer management schemes for delivery of diverse data in multimedia communication systems is disclosed. The modeling system enables the diverse data to be delivered from a disk subsystem connected to a diverse data enabled (DDE) server computer to client computers via the server computer and ATM networks in an efficient and predictable manner. A performance model for the ATM network based DDE server system is created that predicts the number of streams the entire system can dynamically support. The performance modeling system enables open system DDE servers, clients and switches to guarantee delivery of information to users dynamically, without buffer overflow or starvation.
