ABSTRACT:
A power supply for a hybrid scavengeless development (HSD) image forming system which generates three voltages, a mag voltage, a donor voltage and a wire electrode voltage. The power supply outputs square waveforms for generating toner clouds to maximize the voltage push-pull on toner without increasing peak voltage level. The power supply also generates asymmetric waveforms for mag AC, donor AC and electrode wire voltage signals to avoid air breakdown at a wire electrode to donor interface while allowing maximum use of a voltage space. Finally, the power supply uses frequency modulation of the AC signals to suppress harmonic strobing of electrode wires.
