To provide a power converter equipped with a current detector which is small and can carry out highly accurate current detection, in the power converter equipped with a power module16having a power controlling semiconductor element7disposed on the power module base27with a ceramic substrate28interposed, and a control unit26for controlling the operation of the power controlling semiconductor element7, a current detector40having a magnetic detecting unit47which is disposed in the detection conductor11, electrically connected to the power controlling semiconductor element7and disposed on the power module base27with the ceramic substrate28interposed, and has a magnetic detecting semiconductor element43electrically connected to the control unit26is provided in the power module16; and relative distance between the detection conductor11and the power module base27is larger than the relative distance between the current detection electrode42and the power module base27.
