ABSTRACT:
A portable terminal in which the labor in inputting plural characters and a variety of information can be relieved in case limitations are imposed on the number of available keys. The portable terminal includes an LCD26,a memory17for storing the dictionary information comprised of plural words and exemplary sentences, a key input unit29for inputting unit characters, a CPU13for retrieving from the memory the words and/or exemplary sentences displayed on the LCD26based on the input from the key input unit29and/or on the character string already finalized, and a jog dial40.A desired word and/or exemplary sentence is selected from the plural words and/or exemplary sentences retrieved by the CPU13responsive to rotation of the jog dial40and displayed on the LCD26and the information on the finalized character string is generated.
