ABSTRACT:
A miniature poppet valve, particularly for the control of a pressurized gas, such as air, constructed and arranged so that it can be made in very small sizes without excessive expense while being reliable, sturdy and resistive to damage. The valve includes a housing having ports to accommodate conventional conduits of rather large size, which ports communicate with a central passage containing therein a slidable valve stem of extremely small size. The valve stem has a resilient seal ring thereon for creating a sealed engagement with a surrounding annular valve seat when the valve stem is shifted axially from an open position into a closed position. The valve stem projects outwardly from opposite ends of the central passage and is sealed with respect to the housing by seal rings disposed adjacent opposite ends of the passage to prevent the pressurized gas from acting against the ends of the valve stem and imposing an unbalanced force thereon. One of the extending ends of the stem is connected to an operator, such as a solenoid.
