ABSTRACT:
A polyviologen modified electrode which comprises an insoluble film of polyviologen polymerized on a base electrode by electrochemical reduction and electrodeposition of monomer represented by the formula (I) ##STR1## Wherein R.sup.1 is a divalent group selected from the groups consisting of alkylene, cycloalkylene, arylene and arylalkylene or a trivalent group selected from the groups consisting of alkanetriyl, cycloalkanetriyl, arylalkanetriyl and aryltriyl; X.sup.- is a counter anion; m is 2 or 3, which electrode has no performance problem in connection with the solubility to water and organic solvent and the annealing phenomenon.
