ABSTRACT:
The present invention relates to an isolated polypeptide having xylanase activity fromAspergillus fumigatuswith a molecular weight of approximately 50 kDa by SDS-PAGE and homologous polypeptides thereof comprising an amino acid sequence having at least 95% identity with amino adds 20 to 397 of SEQ ID NO: 6; encoded by a polynucleotide comprising a nucleotide sequence having at least 95% identity with nucleotides 107 to 1415 of SEQ ID NO: 5: or encoded by a polynucleotide that hybridizes under high stringency conditions with (i) nucleotides 107 to 1415 of SEQ ID NO: 5, (ii) the cDNA sequence of (i), or (iii) a full-length complementary strand of (i) or (ii). The present invention also relates to a method for producing such polypeptides having xylanase activity comprising: (a) cultivating a wild-typeAspergillus fumigatuscell under conditions conducive for production of the polypeptide; and (b) recovering the polypeptide.
