A polymeric film has a biaxially oriented substrate layer of a propylene polymer having an X-ray scattering phi (.phi.) scan full width half maximum (FWHM) value greater than 16.0.degree.. The film preferably comprises a polymeric heat-sealable layer on at least one surface of the substrate.
