ABSTRACT:
Polymers containing one or more groups of the formula: ##STR1## where R.sub.4 is alkyl having 1 to 6 carbon atoms, cycloalkyl of 5 to 6 carbon atoms and hydroxyalkyl of 2 to 6 carbon atoms; R.sub.1 is hydrogen, alkyl having 1 to 5 carbon atoms or hydroxyalkyl having 1 to 5 carbon atoms; R.sub.2 and R.sub.3 are the same or different radicals selected from hydrogen, alkyl having 1 to 5 carbon atoms or one of the R.sub.2 and one of the R.sub.3 radicals joined together with the carbon atom to which they are attached to form cycloalkyl. The polymers can be made self-curing or can be combined with a co-reactable second material containing functional groups selected from hydroxyl, carboxylic acid, carboxylic acid anhydride and isocyanate to form curable compositions. The self-curable polymers and the curable polymer compositions are useful as resinous film formers in coating compositions which can be cured without the generation of formaldehyde.
