ABSTRACT:
Alkyl ammonium nitrate fused salts of the formula ##STR1## wherein R.sup.1 is a substituted or unsubstituted alkyl group and R.sup.2 and R.sup.3 are each independently hydrogen or a substituted or unsubstituted alkyl group, which fused salts have melting points of up to about 125.degree. C., are disclosed for use as solvents or swelling agents for polymers and as polymerization media for the conduct of polymerization reactions.
