ABSTRACT:
Substantially gel-free cis-1,4-polybutadiene is produced by polymerizing butadiene in the presence of a catalyst comprising a mixture of a cobalt compound, at least one organoaluminum compound and water, the improvement being the use of a cycloalkane having 5 to 8 carbon atoms in the ring and from 0.1 to 2 percent of an alkyl substituted benzene as a polymerization regulator.
