A solid powdered peroxyhydrate is provided which is an adduct of hydrogen peroxide and a polymeric electrolyte, said polymeric electrolyte having the formula: ##STR1## wherein Y is selected from CO.sub.2.sup.- M.sup.+ and C.sub.6 H.sub.4 SO.sub.3.sup.- M.sup.+ ;
