There is disclosed a polymeric diffusion matrix for the sustained release of phenylpropanolamine by transdermal delivery to a patient wherein the matrix comprises a polar plasticizer, polyvinylalcohol, polyvinylpyrrolidone, and a pharmaceutically effective amount of phenylpropanolamine.
