ABSTRACT:
A bleaching composition and method is described that includes contacting a substrate with a peroxygen compound and a polymeric bleach precursor which has a monomer repeating unit of the structure: ##STR1## wherein R is hydrogen or a C.sub.1 -C.sub.20 radical selected from the group consisting of alkyl, cycloalkyl, alkenyl, cycloalkenyl and aryl radicals; and
