ABSTRACT:
This invention provides a polyester, which is composed of a constitutive unit of formula (I) and a constitutive unit of formula (II) in a proportion of (I)/(II) of being from 0.1/99.9 to 99.1/0.1 as a molar ratio and which has a logarithmic viscosity (.eta..sub.inh) of being 0.1 or more: ##STR1## where R.sub.0 is a fluorine-free monovalent organic group having from 1 to 40 carbon atoms, R.sub.1, R.sub.2 and R.sub.3 are independently a divalent organic group having from 1 to 40 carbon atoms, and n is 0 or 1.
This invention also provides a method of preparing the polyester, in which (A) a monoepoxy compound of formula (III) ##STR2## where R.sub.0 and n have the same meanings as mentioned above, (B) a polyester or a polyester precursor and (C) a dicarboxylic acid compound are reacted and polymerized.
